Enjoy one of life's ultimate combos — fruit and chocolate — in a smoothie!
I don't follow an exact recipe for this but I usually use about a cup of frozen berries, a tablespoon of cocoa powder, a tablespoon of protein powder and then cover the berries in liquid.
Ingredients
Side note: These are some guideline amount for the ingredients, but I never actually measure out everything for smoothies.
1 banana (frozen for thicker smoothie)
1 cup Frozen Mixed Berries
1 tbsp Cocoa powder
1-2 tbsp Protein Powder (I use the Tropeaka lean protein powder)
1/2 - 1 cup Water or Plant Milk
Optional (add after for texture):
Cocoa nibs
Whole frozen berries
Granola
Method
Blend all of the ingredients
Serve and Enjoy!
Personal Notes and Tips
I use vanilla protein powder so I add a little bit more cocoa powder, but if you are using chocolate flavored protein powder then you don't have to add as much, unless you are chocolate LOVER! 😉
Frozen bananas can always be added to thicken up your smoothie!
I worked a summer job at a smoothie/juice bar and what we would do for the the smoothies with cocoa nibs was add them at the very end and then just blend them in for like 3-5 seconds. It helps add some flavor to the smoothie while still giving it a crunchy texture.
